[DeTomaso] Has anyone researched hood vent designs? (Dave Londry)

Dear Asa,

I do know that Larry Stock's high speed aero mods seem to include
a belly pan when I reviewed the double secret pictures he kindly sent me.
Perhaps Larry might comment.

                            Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

Yes, and somebody found it and returned it. If I recall correctly, he lost
his deck lid due to a hinge pin that came out. After that, most of us
drilled our pins for clips or safety wire. Here is an example from mine
when I drilled for cotter pins:

This should prevent losing the deck lid entirely as long as the hinges stay
intact. However, it might be a good idea, like what Dan was eluding to, to
have some kind of back-up in place like a thick bungee cord under the deck
lid in case it unlatches. Make it short enough that the deck-lid doesn't
come up any more than a few inches.

Didn't somebody try a belly-pan under the rear of car at one time? I
thought I remember somebody trying that but don't remember any conclusions.
