[DeTomaso] Spal PWM fan control

You are, of course, absolutely correct.
For you.
My testing with an anemometer has shown that, when going down the road at 80
mph, the air is flowing through the opening at somewhere between 20 and 25
mph, which equates to a volume of around 200 cfm. Heck, even a 7.5 inch low
profile Spal fan pushes 450 cfm.
I plan to use a pwm controller, so fan will only spin as necessary to
achieve whatever I set as a target temperature in the engine compartment. I
suspect that, when driving down the road on a hot day, the fan may not be
turning at all. Time will tell.
I am doing this for a couple of reasons - mainly because I like to drive my
cars. I hate leaving the Pantera out in a parking lot with the engine
accessible to folks fingers. The dogbone air cleaner is just way too
attractive (ok, maybe not to all of you, but to folks who want a souvenir?).
Not to mention things like swirl tank radiator caps and the like. Besides,
it is amazing to me how much crap ends up on top of the engine and how much
water ends up flowing up onto the engine when driven at speed.
So, I agree completely with you. For you, this would be pointless. But,
heck, for me it is a good thing.
Of course, I have made a lot of mods to 5332 with a focus to making her
easier to maintain and more enjoyable. Few folks will go with FI - but I
really like it - to mention one of may mods.
As we all have to remember, what we do with our cars is what makes us happy.

That must be one of the most pointless modifications one can undertake. The
car moving will create an airflow up and out the opening beyond what any
reasonable fan can produce. That flow will also keep the air below your goal
temperature.

That one is just the wiring kit for the controller.
Thanks for looking - I am going to find what I want if I keep trying. My
goal is to install the window behind the engine and have a controller to
ramp up and down a fan that will be mounted beside the engine on the
passenger side - down low, on top of the frame rails. It will pull air from
below the car, blow up one side and most likely down the other to keep the
engine compartment below like 150F.
