[DeTomaso] Powdercoating Campi rims

I have had 10 Pantera wheels powder coated and none have failed so far.
I use nitrogen in my tires and the tire pressure does not vary.
The finish is more durable than paint, but there is a possibility that you
can can get out-gassing at any stage and that will cause a bubble.
The finish is also not dead smooth but a slight orange-peel, you can paint
over powder coat, it is a great key, if you wish.
It will help prevent corrosion that mag wheels suffer from especially in
the hidden areas of the wheel.

is 400 for 10-15 minutes, no where near the critical temps to hurt the

magnesium is NO differant than any other substrate we coat. Bead blasting

does not effect the integrity of the wheel in any manner. The only issue in
the past was the amount of outgassing magnesium does compared to other CAST
metals, but with modern outgas forgiving additives for powder

is a non issue. I have heard the pros and cons of both sides of the coating
magnesium issue and here is what I have found . There are lots of examples
out there of people with coated magnesium wheels

that
have never had a powdercoating related failure and are happy with the
better end result than you would get with paint. And everyone that says it
cannot be done cannot provide

any
reasonable data to back up there claim or site even one example of there
being a recorded failure of a magnesium wheel directly related to the
powdercoating. But this is just my opinion as a professional powdercoater."
