Larry,
You may have to return that stuff signed and filled in before they ship or
you pick up the car.
It seems to me that if you can just ignore all that paperwork then this
would be a good way to "wash" a title with a troubled history ( flood
damage, salvage title, stolen? ) and end up with a clean title. I kind of
thought that the feds put an end to that stuff a long time ago. It might
be good advice to check with the Ohio BMV and see what you need to do to
get a title and then get plates.
Thanks,
Ed....

It seems to me that if you can just ignore all that paperwork then this
would be a good way to "wash" a title with a troubled history ( flood
damage, salvage title, stolen? ) and end up with a clean title. I kind
of thought that the feds put an A end to that stuff a long time ago. It

A A paid for it. Today I get a packet of paperwork from the used
car
A A dealer. Boy this is not how we do it in the grand old state of
Ohio.
A A Look at this mess.
A A 1. I get a Nevada title for the car in the name of the lady
who traded
A A A A it to a Honda dealer in Las Vegas. The back of the title
is signed
A A A A over to California Auto Auction. Nothing is notarized.
A A 2. I get a small form from Cal DMV "vehicle auction wholesale
report
A A A A of sale". It shows the auction name and the used car
dealer's name
A A A A as buyer. Nothing is notarized.
A A 3. I get a form from Cal DMV, "vehicle/vessel transfer and
A A A A reassignment form". Looks to be a bill of sale from the
auction
A A A A company to the used car dealer.
A A 4. I get a form from Cal DMV, "vehicle/vessel transfer and
A A A A reassignment form" Looks to be a bill of sale from the
used car
A A A A dealer to me. It is asking for my signature and returned
to them.
A A A A It also asks for my signature to appoint the used car
dealer to be
A A A A my power of attorney to complete necessary paperwork and
transfer
A A A A ownership. Hmmmm...
A A 5. I get a form "contract cancellation option agreement"
looking for
A A A A my signature to decline it.
A A Is any of this normal? We call this skipping a title here and
it is not
A A a legal thing to do. Do I just sign all this before the car
gets here?
A A Did he really ship it yet?
A A In Ohio a dealer buys a car. He gets a title that has the back
filled
A A in with his name, miles and a notarized signature of the
seller. The
A A dealer transfers the tile into there name and get a new title.
When it
A A is sold the same thing happens...simple.
