Michael,

I forgot to mention that the early rear-mounted spare tubs relied on gravity to retain the spare, while the later tube (from late '72 or early '73 perhaps? From BSN 50103) had a steel fender washer molded into the fiberglass and utilized a threaded hold-down stud.
