[DeTomaso] For those who like engine builds

The image is in the message source encoded with base64.  It appears that 
in your case, this is how your Mac email program is creating the 
message.  My email program (Thunderbird) gives me a link to the encoded 
data.  This allows me to click on the link which then launches my 
picture viewer and displays the image.

So based on this information, I'm guessing that this is how your Mac 
email program is configured.  There may be a setting to change the way 
this operates.  Perhaps the issue is the image type.  It is a TIFF, not 
a JPG.
