My Abarth would die at idle-- turns out someone had screwed in the idle adjustment screw on the Weber carb so far and hard it broke off, so the car was "idling" on the cruise circuit. It was a race car so the PO wasn't bothered by it. :)
Check the idle system in your carb.

Sounds like a bad fuel pump.

If it just shuts down I
would look to more electrical. We have had
problems
with the
ignition switches in the past.A I would hot wire it (jump
power to
coil) that will by pass all of the wires going to the dash. Run your
tests
to see what it does.

Don't have any ethanol in my
gas. Never use the stuff. Lucky to have
good
gas where I live. I will
check my ground. All my hoses are original
except
water. Have looked at
my hoses but will take them off and check that
way
also. Will also check
that brake hose.A Have changed the coil and no
change.
It doesn't
sputter. It just shuts down. If I feather the gas I can keep
it
running.
Don't know about checking the float level on the Autolite. Can
do
it on
the Holleys on my Birds. I had the carb rebuilt a few years ago
and it
ran ok of quite a while. I have a lot to check. So I will get back to
you
guys latter with an update. Thanks
