mr casey,
i confess to possibly being a bit redundant, as spam is typically ignorant. not sure if IT'S by virtue of ITS definition, tho - sometimes, spam can be quite intelligent. however, i am certain that it is not by virtue of IT IS (IT'S) definition. ;~)
and i would suggest that "Love of country" IS a stupid, archaic and fallacious mental notion that cowards and bullies (and greedy power-hungry bastards) hide behind, to justify their brutality - when it is used in exactly that manner. such as what america did in vietnam, and, more recently, in iraq. i am all for supporting those who put their lives on the line to protect american citizens. but for supporting those who do it for their own selfish hunger for power and money, while hiding behind patriotism? not so much...
to all you knee-jerk patriots out there, i refer you to a speech given by a leading republican of his time, one of the great american generals, and former president of the usa; he says it as well or better than i ever could:
military-industrial complex speech, dwight d. eisenhower, 1961http://coursesa.matrix.msu.edu/~hst306/documents/indust.html
ymmv,
doug s.,#2602ps - is it really necessary to copy-n-paste an ENTIRE thread, when replying to a post? how about just what's pertinent?

Audio Nut.
Isn't all spam ignorant by virtue of it's definition. And to Mr. Nut A , I
challenge you to make the statement "Love of country" is a stupid, archaic
and fallacious mental notion that cowards and bullies hide behind to
justify their brutality. at any US Officers club or NCO's club naval air
station , or any marine cops base anywhere!. I'm not suggesting that you
don't have the right to voice your opinion it's only when there are people
willing to fight for whats right (like their country at what it stands
for!) Or to carry a gun and a badge and put their life on the line to
protect citizens from people who aren't willing to put their life on the
line.
