Most normal packings are fiberglass where higher end sound deadening devices would use rock wool or extruded ceramic fibers. Fiberglass is very weak and will get beat up from the heavy sound waves and exhaust pressure.

Heat resistance of mineral wool;

Material:                   Temperatures:
Glass wool               230 - 260 °C
Stone wool               700 - 850 °C
Ceramic fiber wool      1200 °C
