[DeTomaso] Radiator Tube Insulation

If you look at John Taphorn's cooling update article, you can see where he takes the hot water for the heater from the radiator lines in the nose:

In general, it seems like John's approach is a worthwhile improvement, but maybe more work that you want to do.

The heater tubes inside the car definitely can bring the heat but insulating the bottom of the car above the radiator tubes seems like a valid thought. Anybody ever done this and have a seat of the pants comparison?
