The steel sleeve has an o-ring to seal it against the case and the shaft inside the angle-drive has a sort-of seal inside the pressed-and-swaged assembly. The actual angle drive rarely leaks; matter of fact, getting new lube inside is a problem as the 44 year old grease is usually brick-like. What normally happens is, the left/right-thread adapter is not fully screwed all the way up against the angle drive body before installation, So when one screws the right-hand thread end down on the steel sleeve, the result is not centered on its threads and the assembly can wobble even though the dual-thread nut is 'tight'. This chatter is what breaks the forked-end shaft inside the angle drive.

Lolita is leaking at speedometer drive. I am looking for information on
what
seals etc I need before removing drive from ZF. I can't remember
where there
is good information and or photos of this unit. Any photos
and information
would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
