[DeTomaso] Campagnolo 10x15 taking orders in September!!!

Why did I change my old original Campi's on my Candy factory GR4 car, for
new Marvic ones ?
For very basic and sound safety reasons.
What Ed says about corrosion is 100 % true. Magnesium tends to corrode in
time due to humidity. If wheel corrodes, it may remain unnoticed or
unseen, and you might as well drive without damage, BUT ....
When you look at how much the wheel changes shape with acceleration or
simple speed, just figure out how it suffers when you are racing and
attacking rumble strips at the limit of the grip . The forces and
constraints on the metal and rubber are just enormous, and you do not wish
to add extra risks to the situation by using wheels that might not
perfectly resist.
I have recently bought a 1972 GTS ( for street use ) but I will change my
old 10x15 for a new set , just for a matter of safety, now that it is
possible !
Just figure out the damage to your car ( and related costs not even
mentioning the risk of damaging other cars or people's life ) if one of
your rear wheel brakes under acceleration or bad road condition...

A A I believe magnesium strength is in its surface and when it starts
   to
A A corrode it looses its safety margin. From my own experience racing

A A new Marvic Gr4 wheels on his race car? The surface material after

A A Even well painted wheels after 3 to 5 years; the paint starts
   flaking
   A A off.
   A A If I were going to spend $3000 - $4000 for a set of two 40 year old
A A magnesium 10x15 wheels, I would damn sure have them X-rayed or

A A them first, and then have them recoated just to make sure you

A A I tried to find a a used set myself, kind of difficult so for me
A A personally I am going to buy new for $3000, and call it a day.
A A My opinion. Anyone want to back me up? :-) lol
