I am not a big fan of powder coating wheels especially magnessium wheels. During the baking process magnessium will gas out and change the color of the finish to a bluish hue. Also there is a procedure for doing magnessium wheels that differs from powder coating other metals as I recall that goes something like once the baking time is complete the magnessium product needs to cool over night in the oven.

I think powder coated wheels look like they have been coated with a plastic finish as compared to a painted finish that looks more in keeping with the original look and finish. Painted finished are much easier to touch up than powder coated finished as well.
