[DeTomaso] Rear Brake Vent - additional pictures

Julian -
Spain has a similar test for the parking brake. I can confirm that a Pantera with a stock parking brake needs to be PERFECTLY adjusted in order to pass said test. I have more "fails" than "pass"

I'll deny it in a court of law, but I've discovered the secret. 99% of the cars need to be driven through the inspection facility by the inspectors. They let me drive the Pantera myself. I've heard an unsubstantiated rumor that during the handbrake test the inspectors are more intent watching the screen measuring braking power than watching to see if the brake lights come on. I won't say more, but I haven't had trouble passing the yearly inspection for 4-5 years now...

Dan,

I am aware of the IPSCO solution, which is a step above the 'silly kart things' as I was thinking more of the cheaper variant Wilwood spot calipers;

There is a requirement in the UK MOT test for the handbrake to bring the rear wheels to a stop against the force of a rolling road and without a certain level of imbalance between sides. I wsa trying to convey (poorly) that I don't think many of the options owners revert to in the US would meet the demands of the test, and I think that might include the OEM setups in many US based Pantera's.

Do you mean:

That looks like it would work as well as many OEM set ups I've seen. Some
of those are simply tiny mechanically actuated drum brakes that use the
inside of the hub as the braking surface.
