[DeTomaso] NPC: battery charging question

The answer is yes you can, how many maybe dependent on your charger capacity and the initial state of the batteries, but for top up trickle/maintenance IMO you should be okay with up to 4 in parallel. Essentially its just like one larger battery with more internal cells. Connect one of the charger leads to the nearest battery post e.g. +ve and the other to the furthest opposite charge (-ve) post to ensure you are charging across all cells and not just the first battery.

I believe using a parallel slave battery is actually recommended when you have a fully discharged SLA that is sulfated and won't take a charge.

Subject: [DeTomaso] NPC: battery charging question

Hi Guys,

I have been using a good quality automotive 1.5 Amp monitored battery
charger to charge/maintain, 12 volt .8Ah gel-cell batteries. It does a very
good job but the problem is that I need to keep a large number of the
batteries charged at all times. It is a pain to change batteries each
day.when I remember to do it.

Question: Can I charge more then one at a time if they are wired in
parallel? If so how many?

Thanks,

Larry (sorry Ducks) - Cleveland
