[DeTomaso] Lori's engine exploded!

This may not be a good data point but mine is a June '71 car (or April,
this is why I'm terrible at this) and my engine also does not have a
stamping on a machined surface.  It's really not clear if the early cars
all got stampings, some did or none did.  My buddy swears Holman Moody got
a hold of all the ones received on the east coast and "fixed them" before
delivery.  All rumor and innuendo.  I'm left with the notion that De Tomaso
just kept cranking them out as fast as he could with the first 800 or so
and left the details for later.
