FWIW, I have a .655 5th in my Pantera and a .640 5th in my GT40.
Both have a 4.22 stock Pantera ring and pinion.
Couldn’t be happier with the combinations. I wanted a .655 in the GT40, but was told that wasn’t available anymore by Quella.
Maybe he just had a .640 laying around he wanted to get rid of….???
:-)
The GT40 guys, including Olthoff, said I was making the wrong decision and should have gone with a 3.77.
However, once Olthoff drove my car with the 4.22 and .640, he said he was amazed and it was a really good setup.
Yeah, maybe he was just strokin’ me....
Regardless, I really like the combination in both cars.
What really changed things was when I went from 345x15 rears to 335x18 rears on the Pantera…
Wow… it be tall now!
I don’t think I’d like 3.77’s…. Just sayin…
I ain’t got enough HP to do anything with those, anyway.
Again, FWIW…
