Seems to me that looking for the perfect Pantera is sort of like looking for the perfect woman.. Good luck, your experience may vary, a lot...
And.... The ones that are a bit (or a lot) crazy are more fun..
Do you want to polish a car in a museum, or come home heart pumping, sweaty and worn out after a wild ride....
Sincerely (ya, sure...)
Jeff, #2467 which is far from perfect, but has the gorgeous early body with a flat deck and square cornered bumpers. The EFI/turbos will make you forget it's little quirks.. However, you might not want to introduce it to your mother.

Words of truth and wisdom from Will. Hang in there, Rob. It might
take a while (years) if you are dead-set on what you are looking for.
Lots of guys have bought L-models and then converted the bumpers.
Also, the ridge on the rear deck lid is actually desirable, DeTomaso
put it there for a good reason.
Including the L-model in your search would greatly expand your
possibilities.

They are out there.
But the "perfect" cars do not trade hands often. That's because when
everything is sorted, the cars are fantastic, so people don't want to
sell
them.
When one sells it is usually because, a) they need the money, b) there
are
nagging issues and the car isn't fun to drive, or c) they died.
Please note, I said "usually". Others may chime in with d), e), f).
You may be better off getting one that is close, and then paying
someone
to make it perfect.
