Thanks for your effort Asa Jay.A

   <[1]asajay at asajay.com> wrote:

Volunteer time is at a premium these days.A I spent over 40 hours
of my VACATION time -last- year rebuilding what you now see of the
POCA web site and it's like nobody noticed.A Yes, a few things
still don't work and it may not be as "flashy" as you like; but you
now, after spending 40 hours of my vacation time working on it....
I'm a bit tired of working on it.
     <rant on>
Two people have volunteered their services to take over the web site
in the past four years.A You know what they do?A They call me, or
Mark.A You know how Mark and I built it and maintained it? OJT, we
didn't have anyone to call; we had to learn how it was built, how to
maintain it, etc.A POCA doesn't need another "manager" of the site,
or "technology," they need someone who can actually get their hands
dirty; know how to make changes, not be afraid of screwing up and
     changing things back quickly.
     <rant off>
A huge thank you to Terry Himes for helping to recover thousands of
photos from the old gallery software last year. That one thing along
should tell you that I can't do it alone, that Mark can't do it
alone, that it's either a team effort or POCA will have to pay
thousands of dollars (and we're not talking four digit thousands
here), to build and maintain something new.
Ed Mendez is trying to learn, but he's got a long way to go yet.A
You might give him a chance.
Perhaps instead of trying to outsource the requirements to a third
party, POCA might to do well to actually ask the membership if
anyone can help by posting the job at hand, along with
requirements.A I personally didn't know this was a project until
someone told me POCA was paying for a new web site months ago, at
which point I asked what they were asking the new development team
to do.A And I subsequently pointed out the present web site will
already do 92% of it, if someone had the time to work it.
I no longer have the time, my volunteer hours have run out.
     AsaA Jay

Quoting Jeff Detrich <[2]jjdetrich at gmail.com>:

Another new POCA website which has been under development since
     early in
the year has failed once again. It's a shame we can't get some
     members with
real web-site application development expertise to help manage this
     project
     for POCA.
