[DeTomaso] Oil Spray from valve cover breathers

Absolutely agree. In my experience, smoke or oil from the breathers ALWAYS means crankcase pressure is too high- for whatever reason, assuming parts were chosen wisely. To seat rings more quickly, one successful method is to drive the car exactly as you plan to use it- the harder the better. I've seen such engines break-in within 30 miles and last longer than slow break-ins. Babying it can vastly extend break-in time. And NOT running a PCV is a mistake, even on supercharged engines. Note- its easy to put some PCVs in upside-down, too. They don't work well that way. My 2¢- J DeRyke

But he said that it pushes the breathers out of the valve covers if he
pushes it hard.

Dennis - you¹ve got too much pressure in your crankcase. The most
likely explanation is the rings are not seated.

All of the solutions are good solutions, but it¹s just going to smoke like
crazy once you start burning that oil spray. You need to get the rings
seated.
