Clarke,

First of all don't confuse the two BLUE wires connected to the coil. One is
a thicker BLUE with BLACK stripe which is the Tach wire and the other is a
thinner LIGHT BLUE wire which is the Ignition feed wire.

Your Pertronix RED wire should NOT be connected to the stock LIGHT BLUE wire
that runs between the Ignition switch's RUN contact and the COIL+ post.
This wire has a 1.5 Ohm resistance built into it. The Pertronix instuctions
call for its RED wired to be connected to an Ignition RUN source which is
present at the fuse box. You can connect the Pertronix RED wire to either
fuse 11, 12, 13 or 14.

Also present at the COIL+ post should be the ORANGE wire that runs to the
Solenoid and possibly a RED wire that runs to the Throttle solenoid. These
wires should be left as-is.

Connect the Pertronix BLACK wire to the COIL- post.
Also present at the COIL- post should be the BLUE/BLACK Tach wire which
should be left as-is. You should also have already removed the BLACK points
wire that was connected here.

Good Luck.

Subject: [DeTomaso] Pertronix Ignitor

Can't get my late 74 running after installing the 1281DV Pertronix Ignitor.
Took out the Napa Echlin dual points, rotor and cap. Installed the ignitor
along with the Motorcraft DR-5-B Rotor as call for in the instructions.
Installed a Motorcraft DH-6 cap. Got that number from the Pantera parts
book. Hook the black wire to the negative coil terminal. Hooked the red wire
to the blue wire that I unplugged the wire that came out of the distributor.
No go. Put the Echlin cap back on. No go. Stopped at that point. Thanks in
advance for any help.
