[DeTomaso] stock pantera's

I suggest that if your car is ever "totally" by the insurance company, fight like mad to buy what is left for a low price. Incomplete cars show up pretty often for good prices. If you can salvage most the missing parts from your "totaled" car, you might get back on the road a lot cheaper.

Mike,
Sorry to about your loss. Hope you were not injured.
I am curious if you were under insured? I hope you get a replacement.

Well, in the 'everyone has an opinion' department: I had a nearly stock '73L, stock radiator and fans, original dual point dizzy, stock intake manifold, no body mods, original interior... (headers and carb were the only non-stock items on the car). I did NOT get the car as an investment and I wanted it to drive! And, drive it I did! In fact, I would have driven it more had it not been for the insurance restrictions. It ran fine (yes, I would have liked more power) and did NOT overheat. Started easily hot or cold and idled well. I LOVED the fact it was stock.

Sadly, it was rear ended and totaled while I was at a stoplight and I have not had any luck finding another at anywhere close to what I paid only a year and a half earlier (June 2012). Personally, I wish these investors would 'invest' in some other car so prices would return to something I can afford!

Ed, I think the purists that desire all stock is mostly detached from this group. I think it is a different group looking at the cars for investment, not making them better and fun to drive. I think the purists are in for the long haul to make money and add to their collections.
Just my opinion, yes everyone has one.
