[DeTomaso] NPC - Amp Conversion for power inverter

Hi Rob,

You will not damage the alt as you are pulling the 100 amps from the
battery. Your Alt is only recharging the battery. You are taking more power
then you are replacing. You will drain the battery at some point and then
you could run into a problem with the Alt.

So I think it comes down to how long the motor will be running.

Also remember:

A motor start up draws more power.
The inverter its self is not 100% efficient and will use power.
I have some generators for sale : )

Subject: [DeTomaso] NPC - Amp Conversion for power inverter

Gurus,

I've got a John Deere 4 cylinder Diesel motor with a 70 amp alternator. The
battery is rated at 950 CCA.

I want to hook up a 1500 Watt continuous power inverter to run at most a
10.5 Amp motor that pulls 1100 Watts. That means I'll be pulling over 100
Amps. Assuming I hook the inverter to the battery and run the Diesel
engine when I need the high-power appliance, will I fry my alternator?
