[DeTomaso] Difference in 'stock' and returned to stock?

With the demand for original Panteras leading the value up, consider a car 'returned' to original.

I'm having a chat with a newbie to the registry regarding an original Pantera.

I see that there might be a perceived difference in value between a Pantera that is stock (from new)

and one that has been 'returned' to stock.

If a Pantera has been returned to stock condition does that make it worth less (or more) that a Pantera

that has always been like it was when new?

Take a simplified example, a Pantera that has been well enjoyed. The wheels were changed sometime,

along with seats, and some other minor things. Then the car is sold, and the new owner repaints the engine,

cleans up a bunch of stuff, finds some stock seats, and installs a set of Campy wheels (say even with Arriva tires).

So now the car looks much closer to stock (or back to visibly all-stock).

Just for an example. Say an original Pantera is worth $50,000. What is a returned-to-stock Pantera worth?

(Keep all other things the same for the sake of this comparison. Same mileage, same condition)

Does it really matter if it has been 'returned'?

Thoughts?
