[DeTomaso] DeTomaso Digest, Vol 124, Issue 8

Although I do not get a say any longer because I am no longer a Pcar owner, I will chime in any way. I think the 275/55/15 would be a much better choice for both the 8 and 10. The 275/55/15 is a much closer size to the P7 285/55/15 of days ago that I feel was the best looking tire and best suited tire for the car

Cheers

>> Yes- and they look good. See the October POCA Newsletter front cover for an AZ Pantera wearing them. I neglected to mention they are V-rated and that Roger Kraus in Castro Valley CA carries them. Not cheap, but what is, these days? The U.S wear index number is not mentioned in their specs and Roger is too busy to return my e-mails, but because it uses "competition" rubber compounds, I'd expect it to be similar to Hoosier DOTs at around 125 (or less). SCCA and some other series changed their rules for 2014 and no longer allow 'R' compound tires with wear ratings less than 125 (200 in 2015) to run in Stock classes. Such tires may become less popular simply because they won't be selling as many. That does not mean the price will come down, though....

>>> The first page is a ?LIKE? page, this is essentially a Fan Page where people on the Facebook community can hit the Like button and they start getting notifications every time something is posted on the page. This page as of now has 533 Likes, so every time a picture or video or announcement is posted on this Fan page, they get a notification on their own Facebook page, and in turn all of their friends can see this. This means literally thousands of people are exposed to our club and the Pantera or Mangusta. Please tell your friends, the more Likes, the more exposure.

Each Tweet is limited to 140 characters, basically just short blurbs to the rest of the world about what is going on in the POCA world at any given moment.

All these things impact how much clearance a given car needs. So, on our '72L, I folded in the fender lips and had the following tire rub interferences at full-lock in sharp turns with one person aboard:

Without the caster increase, this last may not have been an issue. Std height cars also may not have such rubs.

Also pay attention to tire-to-brake hose clearances with very wide front tires. A spinning tire will wear thru a rubber brake hose very quickly, and if you have braided-stainless-steel dash-3 hose, the hose will wear the tire edges. Hoses can be 'biased' by retightening with the hose twisted away from the interference. It also makes little difference if the tires are 15", 16" or 17" as long as the chosen size is 245-50 and the ODs are close.
