[DeTomaso] How bad are electrical splices?

FWIW, Chris Difani showed me some super-sexy connectors that are crimp 
connectors with solder built inside of them.   In practice, first you crimp 
them, then you heat them up and the solder melts, then you put shrink wrap 
tubing over them and heat them again.   Makes for the most perfect connection 
possible.   

I don't know where he got them, but I aim to ask him soon as I have need 
for some for the alternator connections on one of my Sciroccos!
