[DeTomaso] Wiring harness R&R

I cut open my harnesses with a razor blade. They are enclosed in a shrink
wrap type tubing that hardens over time.

Once cut open, I added tape every 6-10 inches to keep the wires in the
same place as when I took them apart.

Most of the wires were surprisingly supple and in great shape. One had
corrosion inside the insulation.

Then I replaced the wires that had cracked insulation with automobile-spec
wires. I bought several spools, I think from Waytec wiring. It has been
a while.

I didn¹t mark any of the wires that went to the fuse box. After 40 years,
they probably weren¹t in the right place anyway.

I removed all of the seat belt wiring buzzer wiring.

I moved the battery to the engine compartment, which removed about 100lbs
of thick wiring.

I didn¹t change any of the connectors unless they were missing.

Then I went through the wiring diagram, verifying each wire.

I discovered that the connector behind the passengers headlight was
broken. I couldn¹t find a replacement, so I made sure I got it back
together, and I taped it back with a figure-8 pattern to keep it properly
seated. If I find a proper plug, I might try to replace it.

Oh - and I retyped the wires. The wires in the sill got tape across the
entire section. The wires under the dash got a loop every 6-10 inches.
