[DeTomaso] Euro versus USA radiator cap?

Actually, just to make things more complicated there are short and long / deep Euro caps -- about 20 and 25mm depth IIRC.
 
You should feel the spring engage the sealing surface of the narrow part of the radiator neck just before the cap engages the top rim.
