It did and it forced great hardships on the people of Germany which in turn
made them susceptible to BS from Hilter's ilk.
as he consolidated his power and presented it as Germany against the world.
Another history lesson lost on current US Govt.  You don't make friends out
of former enemies by being a dick
over something that you would also do in a heartbeat if the situation were
reversed.
