[DeTomaso] RM Auction - Pantera # 5538 PARKING BRAKE

I lost track of the origin of this thread - is it a rally chassis?

Even a rear-wheel drive rally car spends a lot of time with the parking
   brake applied.

No part of the stock system would be adequate.

   Jack,
It seems creative to use the existing parking brake lever and
locking teeth features to operate a master cylinder, have others done
   that?

Best guess: someone else has noticed that U.S- legal parking brakes do
not need to be cable operated; it just turns out to be the cheapest way
for auto manufacturers to comply. A hand-operated master squeezing a
pair of small hydraulic calipers are perfectly legal as long as they're
completely separated from the main brake system- including separate
lines. I have a pair of small 2-piston Wilwood calipers I will probably
use for such a system at some point, along with a small bore Girling
master and a Ford pickup truck foot-operated e-brake lever. FWIW- J
