[DeTomaso] Aluminum Flywheels

Well, hmmm.  I went with an aluminum flywheel on my '69 XKE 20 years ago,
and have loved it ever since.  And have put 80K miles on it in that time.  I
could tell immediately that it spun up faster, and have had no drivability
issues since, even with a 3.07 rear end and a 5 speed box.  

Now, am looking forward to the first drive in 5332 with a rebuilt engine and
an aluminum flywheel.   Just sort of shows, different strokes for different
folks.

I would, unquestionably, go with an aluminum flywheel.  But that is just me.

Good points Mike....I decided against going to aluminum on my Jaguar E Type
and my Pantera for exactly the reasons you describe.
If you want a race car.....go for it. If you have to drive the car in
traffic.....that is a different matter and the cat is no fun in traffic to
begin with!
