Could there be something like a bolt, or other debris within the
bell-housing space?

(Like something dropped thru the inspection hole)

I have one of those bore-scopes, which records onto a typical camera card.
Perfect for this check, yet I'm on the other side of the world, so not
practical.

John. good eyes you have :) but it is the image that lie. what you see is an

original edge. But take a look at this picture. disregard marks around the 
bolt. see the top edge. what could it be that touches the paint?

Freddy,

There appear to be some marks on your old pressure plate, as indicated by 
the arrows on the attached pic.

Centerforce usually has a spacer behind the throwout bearing.  If the spacer

isn't used, it might be possible for the throwout fork to contact the 
pressure plate.

In your video, it sounds like the engine slows down when the clutch pedal is

depressed.
