I'm not an expert but i believe that is an important feature (and
difference) between a "stated value "policy and an "Agreed upon" value
policy. I had a 911 that was stolen (around 15 years ago) it was not a
"classic" car. I had a stated value policy. When I told the insurance
company what I wanted to insure the car for they didn't ask any questions,
they just collected the premium. When it was stolen they asked a million
questions and made me prove every penny of value. My new policy with Grundy
clearly states that it is an "agreed upon" value and in the event of a lose
I will be paid that value. With my old policy with American modern Home I
wanted to raise the "agreed value" of my policy (it had not changed in 6
years and as you all know pantera values have gone up and I have spent
around $20K on modifications. AMH wanted me to provide proof that Pantera
values had risen. Grundy didn't ask for anything other then a photo of the
car and a description of the modifications. It was a very simple and
painless process.
