I contacted BJ yesterday and they were half way through the application
process when I mentioned I was currently insured with American Modern home
Insurance Co.. They stopped in their tracks and said"That's who underwrites
our coverage , so there is no point in continuing because your premium and
coverage will be the same. So Arjun was right when he said BJ and Heacock
were both resellers of American modern! I contacted Grundy, and got a quote
for $75,000 agreed value and $500K Liability,( My policy with american
modern was for $45K agreed value and 100/300 liability and the premium with
grundy was lower then what I am paying now!) I also read several blogs on
collector car web sights and all the people had positive things to say
about grundy. Dennis sanford had his car totaled by Sandy and they paid him
off quickly and with no problems (he is the person who told me about
Grundy) he bought his car back from the insurance co,. and is in the
process of restoring it.

I'm with the BJ endorsed program, it is underwritten by AIG now that
TDS got acq
uired by AIG. It is by far the cheapest option I have found and I have
5 cars wi
th them, before that I was with American Collectors and halved my
insurance bill
with the switch.

BJ Insurance is a re-seller of American Modern Home Insurance (Heacock
Classic i
s one of their re-sellers too).
When it comes to insuring classic cars, there aren't not too many
options for fi
xed value insurance coverage. Most regular insurance companies
(StateFarm, Natio
nwide, GEICO etc.) will do fixed value coverage up to $150K, but when
you go abo
ve that it's slim pickings - the only choices I have found are American
Modern,
Chubb (if you bundle with a >$1M home insurance policy), and Hagerty. I
have 4 c
ars insured through American Modern and luckily haven't had the need to
actually
use the coverage.

insurance company. BJ sounds good (it has a nice ring to it!) LOL.

classic car valuation, I think it is a Glass's guide.

I have Barrett-Jackson insurance and when it came time to renew I
decided to up
my agreed upon value. When I told my agent what I wanted to increase
value to
$60K she looked it up in some kind of classic car price guide and said
it showed
the value to be $72K. I can't remember what the name of the price
guide was (m
aybe Hemmings). So one of your sources would be such a guide. I
suspect the g
uide would not reflect the cost of upgrades you made though.

Greetings,
I am in the process of renewing my Pantera's insurance and I want to
increase the insured value. Besides the thousands I have spent on
new
suspension , brembo brakes, cv loints updated ac etc. I told the
insurance company that the market value of Panteras has increased
over
the years I have owned my car ( since 2008). Does anyone have
anything
that would support the current values of Panteras in the market
place
or any suggestions as to a source for this info. They suggested
recent
sales records.I know some of you follow this and I have seen allot
of
the Panteras sold on E-bay for higher prices but once they are sold
I
believe the ebay info is no longer accessible. So any help with this
would be greatly appreciated.
