[DeTomaso] Where is my Profiles?!?!?!?

I think I agree with that. There are always a 'few' collectors out there who are looking for an pristine original car
to put in their museum. But most people who know Pantera's know that they were made to drive. All all the upgrades
are mostly to make them more drivable, specific to that owner. My guess is that there will always be a demand for
the modified, upgraded Pantera. It's just a timeless car with a rich history to boot. IMHO

I read an article about the money spent at auto auctions the last two months (Mecum, etc.) - and the money spent on Corvette "restomods" was unbelievable - and you know that Corvette aficionados are hell-bent on originality. So, maybe what you are proposing won't happen in the Pantera world. Maybe it is just a slight hiccup in our blissedness!! ---BILL Lewis

And if you are looking for cars which have had extensive modifications this problem will only get worse as the stock cars gain value-- fewer people will be interested in spending big bucks on mods when they know the value of the car will not go up and possibly go down as they do so.

Meanwhile...
Those of us who -have- submitted articles (over a year ago), are still
waiting on the "feature" articles so the rest of our submitted articles
can be published.
Mike certainly has my permission to turn my article into a feature
article if he likes.
I would postulate, there are not as many Pantera restorations as there
were 10 years ago. Perhaps that's a driving factor in the absence of
feature articles?

I'm sure more than few of you have been asking that question lately, and our
Profiles editor is very much aware that we've not seen an example of his
handiwork for a while. I asked Mike about this a few weeks back, and his
explanation (paraphrased) was as follows.

Each Profiles magazine is basically wrapped around the feature car of the
month. This creates the cover shot, feature article and centerfold. To
which he can add the various events and other project articles to complete
an edition. He has had a number of prospective feature articles bail on him
over the past months, for various reasons, leaving him without a core
article to publish the magazine. I've heard all the various complaints
about not getting the magazine which our dues are paying for, but the fact
is that we, the members, need to be submitting these articles for Mike to
print. Feature articles, tech articles, chapter events and drives, etc.
Have we lost the pride in our rides to the point that nobody wants to share
them with us?

So, from that, I'm issuing a challenge to the Chapters. We have 21
recognized POCA Chapters spread around the US. We would nominally be
receiving 4 Profiles magazines, one each quarter. I am challenging the
Chapters to each nominate a proud member who has recently done something to
bring their car back to life, restored, upgraded, etc. that they and the
owner would like to share with the rest of us. Nothing better than seeing
YOUR CAR in glossy print, and getting some Chapter recognition, especially
if the Chapter members lent a hand in the project. Pull together and help
them write it and take some pics. I'd like to see at least 4 hand up
within the next month, and I'll be glad to help coordinate once we have
volunteers. If you like, I can help write the copy.

This is YOUR club, and YOUR magazine. We're always trying to find new
members, and Profiles is a great marketing tool. Support it, feed it, but
please don't give up on it!

Thanks
