[DeTomaso] Road & Track online

IMO Pantera's still attract certain types of buyer, not just because they are cheap and more affordable to a larger audience, but by their nature they are regarded as somewhat anti-establishment. That in itself is often the modern definition of a redneck, then having got a Pantera those new owners pull it apart make it faster, add some blingy wheels on it, drop in a 1,000 HP motor or maybe even gold plate it...... and before you know it a cable channel is picking it up for the next reality TV show.

A hand built Italian machine from a company that raced in F1 with Ferrari engineers on the payroll?

Detomasos are revered and respected now.

They were once considered Redneck supercars?

What did I miss in the 70s, 80s and 90s?
