[DeTomaso] Dis-service?

Hi Jack!

I am plenty calm, the derisive note regarding "made up" numbers just struck me as unnecessary. I understand what Evans did and why. Does that make Evans a bad guy?

Cheers, David

Calm down, David. The DOT simply made up more hurdles during the '80s for Amerisport to jump through, apparently for their own entertainment since they accomplished nothing else of note. Remember, those rules made Kirk Evans the 'manufacturer' of the GT5-S in the U.S so technically, those 50+ cars aren't even imports! Thus they had to meet all U.S. car building rules for the early '80s, exactly like Ford or GM. Kirk must be a very stubborn man 'cause any normal person would have told the DOT to stuff it and go make money somewhere with fewer rules.

"The Amerisport VIN is really a 'made up' number necessary to register
   the
   car in the USA"

Or just an outright lie? Maybe someone can explain how the Amerisport
VIN is MORE of a made up number than Hank's [1] third customer car? or
   a Detomaso VIN?

It just seems that all VINs are started at some arbitrary point,
including the secret handshake codes, and continued for various
reasons, including to "register the car in the USA."

OK, ladies, back to the regularly scheduled program . . . . .
