If I remember correctly the suicide came in if you got your shirt or
coat sleeve hung on the ball during a turn. You could either complete
the turn or break your wrist.

My Lecarra wheel is nay 13" in diameter. With my Nitto NT-05 235/40R18
A Front tires that are 9.57" wide I felt like I needed steroids to turn
the wheel from lock to lock while parking! Some one should invent a
wheel with an extension from one of the spokes with one of those 1950's
suicide speed steering balls (a brodie knob).
Tuning those 9.57" wide 18" wheels with no power steering will give you
quite a work out. The extra inch of leverage would have come in handy
even if it made you ooh like Ralph Kramden!
