[DeTomaso] Long Time Coming; Fresh Paint

Another installment. Here is a shot of some rust abatement in process. The
car was relatively clean, but it's a rare Pantera that doesn't have some
rust hidden behind the lower quarters and rockers. The only way to go is
the right way...thanks to the skilled technicians at Perfect Body Autobody
(For those that might be on the fence for same, they can be reached at 631
244 7777.) It may seem like a shameless plug, but I wouldn't bring my
Pantera to anyone else in the NY/NJ area. Joe has rejuvenated a number of
Panteras and knows what they need and how to do it.

When I bought my bone-stock, aging Pantera 19 years ago, the first thing I
said was "it needs fresh paint." I set out to refresh it mechanically
before tackling the paint. So, 19 years later I've finally gotten there
(now there's more stock parts in my shed than on the car.) The car is
currently at Perfect Bodies Autobody in Bohemia, Long Island NY. Fellow
Jersey Panteras member Joe DiVillio has stripped it bare, eradicated the
relatively minor rust demons, welding in metal GTS flares and replacing
rotted rockers with custom fabricated replacements. I'll be posting
periodic photos of the procedures.
