Will, Reverse does not have a synchronizer, (synchro). Its job is to bring
the gear you are going into, to the matching speed so that the gear does not
grind. When a clutch is dragging a bit you over work the synchros to prevent
gear grinding. I think ZF synchros cost more then I make in a year.

I would check:
Is the clutch fully releasing? If not, you'll have trouble shifting, and it
will likely be more difficult in reverse before other gears. I don't know
why. Maybe the reverse shift is more complicated inside the ZF.
Try it with the engine not running. Can you shift into reverse easier? If
you can with the engine stopped, but you can't with the engine running, I'd
suspect the clutch.
And then, the next most obvious thing is adjusting the shifter. Lots of
things to do there, and it is likely documented well on the various P-car
sites.
