[DeTomaso] Best way to strip front and rear trunk felt?

I haven't done it myself, but I figured that's what I would do if I did it.

I want to refurb my trunk insert, but there are some what I assume to be
factory crayon/chalk markings still on it,
which include the serial number and I was thinking that was just too cool
to clean off and paint over.
