One of our first cars as a married couple was a 62 Midget - I've mentioned before all our "fun" with the cranky thing. But, we were young and loved it. ----BILL L

Very cool Jack…..What a job to have…even
today! My first sports car (3 car) was a 64 MGB.
Yes positive “earth”. All it needed was a clutch adjustment. Little
did I know at the time there is no adjustment and you needed to drop the
transmission to replace the carbon throw out bearing. I learned a lot!

Still have my 71 MGB from High School. Of
course, wires, Webers, OD/trans, aluminum bonnet, AND its BRG!

You might appreciate that I drove my MGB "off the boat" in
1965 - my first car. Got a job at BMC in San Francisco
delivering new cars from ship to showroom since I used to go down to
Fisherman's Wharf from Sacramento
a lot. When I saw how the kids drove the brand new cars over all the RR tracks
with wire wheels it killed me to think that some un-suspecting people were
buying cars that were "abused" within the first mile "of
life". So, I got a job delivering cars for BMC also - until MINE showed
up. I drove it back to Sacto. with the "white shit" still covering it
- they used to put a paste on them to protect from salt water. Still have it -
a gem. With rotary power now. Quite a bitchin' little machine. The only hang-up
that I had in all the restorations was the positive ground. No big deal, but
cooked a few wires along the way forgetting that little fact. Still has the
original BRG paint. FWIW

Tom,

Have only had MGB’s (10 or so) but
they are the same animal.

Ask away.

Before I go and do a lot of research I
thought I pose the question to the group in hopes of getting a quick
answer. My brother has a 1974 MG Migit with a 1275 cc engine that
he has had disassembled for over 10 years. He is now starting to
put it back together but can't remember how to hook up the wires to the
starter.

Any british wiring experts out there?

Tom
