available at any auto parts store.

Oddly, what is next to impossible to find is the stock-style 2w bulbs.

I went through my car and upgraded all the bulbs to the 5w style (the small
gauges use the same bulbs as the larger ones). I then found that one of
the small gauges (ammeter I think) was much brighter than the others, so I
opened it up and retrofitted the original 2w bulb there. Now they are all
the same, and just as bright as they need to be, no brighter.

Cars have dimmer switches on the instrument lights because bright interior
lights is NOT what you want on a dark road. Driving in the city, with
bright lights all around, yes. But when you are in the middle of nowhere, you
need to dim your interior lights so that you aren't blinding yourself and
compromising your night vision and your ability to see properly outside.
