I really would try water injection first.  Even if it breaks you're
not stuck anywhere.  And it's *very* inexpensive and simple, I think
just putting the injector south of the MAF and mounting the
water/methanol tank/pump on the firewall or fender apron and you're
pretty much done except for the throttle switch and electronics.  Even
if you made your own with a discarded windshield washer bottle and a
relay for your WOT switch would probably show improvement.
