[DeTomaso] Skyrocketing Prices

I have heard that demographics explain a lot.  The kids who looked at Panteras in Lincoln dealerships 40 years ago are now grown, successful, and their kids have moved out (hopefully).  So now there is time to do some things they wanted to do 40 years ago, like buy a Pantera.

 Dear Al,

I would suggest the general sense of animosity and disbelief may be related to:

1) decades of being the redheaded stepchild of the Italian sports cars

2) our longstanding preference of modified Panteras fulfilling the moniker of the "only Italian hot rod"

3) our preference that the modified and improved Panteras have more value than the stock original Panteras

4) a bit of sour grapes that the rising market value of Panteras is led by the stock original Panteras

Both of my Panteras were bone stock original when I purchased them.   Currently, they both look stock, but the only things remaining stock are the body and the interior (mostly).  The modified Panteras are so much more fun and rewarding to actually drive that I wouldn't go back.

                             Philosophically yours,  Chuck Engles

Surely we should all be excited about being the owners of such desirable and clearly valuable machines. Without sounding too trite, it will put a halt to any excessive disfigurations and loose disregard of purity that has unfortunately kept the 'pantera on the chain' until now.Alp.s A happy new year to the community
