[DeTomaso] Skyrocketing Prices

  Dear Al,

I would suggest the general sense of animosity and
disbelief may be related to:

1) decades of being the redheaded stepchild of the Italian sports cars

2) our longstanding preference of modified Panteras fulfilling the
moniker of the "only Italian hot rod"

3) our preference that the modified and improved Panteras have more
value than the stock original Panteras

4) a bit of sour grapes that the rising market value of Panteras is led
by the stock original Panteras

Both of my Panteras were bone stock original when I
purchased them. Currently, they both look stock, but the only things
remaining stock are the body and the interior (mostly). The modified
Panteras are so much more fun and rewarding to actually drive that I
wouldn't go back.

                              Philosophically yours, Chuck Engles
