[DeTomaso] Shrinking Pantera ?

That actually happened to me. I had my car at my friends shop and had just
adjusted the timing. I was out in the street and all the guys that worked
there were saying " get on it, open it up" so like a goofy teenager I
pulled a hole shot and banged second gear as I approached a stop sign. I
looked up and their was a Nassau County police car around 4 " from my rear
bumper with lights and siren going.  I opened my window and turned of the
car and he came walking up to the window and Said " what's the matter with
you didn't you Hear me, I thought you were trying to run ? And I said "no
officer, I didn't know you were behind me until I stopped at the stop sign
and looked in my mirror, I couldn't hear a thing over the motor" He said"
what's wrong with it is it supposed to be that loud" and I replied" I don't
know ,I just got it and I brought it to my friends shop down the block to
find out what was wrong" ( I still had 30 day tags on the car so the story
was believable) To my amazement He said " this isn't national speedway so
slow down" and he let me go.  Lucky day! I got a decibel meter and the car
was 108 DB.
