[DeTomaso] Something other than tires - Twin Turbo Pantera on Ebay

I was thinking that was a pretty nice car until I saw the "replacement" door
panels which look to be simply attached over the top of the original ones.
How tacky can you get?

This great looking Pantera is on Ebay right now and I'm not much familiar
with forced induction, but this is the first time I have seen a turbo setup
with a carb on top and not pressurizing through the carb via a hat or
enclosed carb?

 

I have seen screw type superchargers with carb(s) atop and can see how they
would maintain a suction seal through the carb, but I'm struggling to see
how the turbo would do so?
