Dear Asa,
I just checked with the local Jet Hot shop. They can
take machined cast iron heads and mask off all the areas you would not
want coated. The coating process cooks the material and the heads at
650 degrees. They say that they have not seen any problems with
upsetting the previously done machine work, that "they know of". Ball
park cost is $200 per cylinder head. They allege that the cost is not
so much for the coating surface area, but the work involved in masking
off the important areas.
So.....that is the report.
Warmest regards, Chuck Engles

How about ceramic coating the intake?
What about the heads? Could a cylinder
head be ceramic coated and then machined for
all the stuff to go on? Interesting idea?

Dear Bjoern and Forum,
I am currently sanding
and polishing up an aluminum intake
manifold. In short order, I will
take it Jet Hot and have it coated
with high polish aluminized ceramic
coating. Good news: it won't stain.
Easy to shine up. More resistant to
scratches and dings. Bad news:
Cost is $215 (full pro polishing is
$600, locally) and final appearance
depends on how smooth the metal
finish is going into the coating
process. FWIW.
Warmest regards, Chuck Engles
