[DeTomaso] Speedometer Lights and A/C electrics

Once again - thanks guys for the quick response. It sounds like perhaps on
the early cars the "Fan" light might have been tied to the radiator fans.
Not a bad idea. But, in looking at wiring diagrams it is apparent that the
a/c compressor can be turned on without having the heater fan running.
Seems sort of odd. Two thoughts - one is to add a light to the speedo so
the unused idiot light tells when the compressor clutch is energized, the
second is to change wiring a bit so that the a/c clutch can only be
energized when the heater fan is turned on. I am assuming others have
already done this. I was thinking I might add a relay to help protect the
fan switch, but it is already coping with the fan motor - a lot bigger draw
than the two relays for the a/c fan and the radiator fan that comes on with
the clutch.

On my '74 (#6338) the speedo lamps are labeled (left to right): Fan, Heater,
Gen
The Fan position has no connection and is unused.
The Heater position indicates the Heater/AC Blower Motor is ON.
The Gen position lights when the alternator is not charging the battery.
The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.
Do the best you can with what your have where you are.

I was working under the dash of 5332, comfortably laid out with my feet on
the firewall, and noted there are three lights to the bottom of the
speedometer dial. They are labeled Heater, Fan and Gen on the dial. I have
lights in the Gen and the Fan holes, and they work. Is there supposed to be
an additional light in the Heater hole - looking at wiring diagrams I get
the idea that the heater light is pretty much the same as the fan light.
